Annie Hawes

I just finished the second of Annie Hawes' books on her adventures in Italy, Ripe for the Picking (copyright 2003). I read her first book, Extra Virgin, years ago early on in my obsessive foray into travel narratives. It was laugh-out-loud hilarious. I loved the book, the characters, the region- everything about it. This second book is slightly more mature, with the same delightful sense of humor. It is out of print, but I was able to find it through Amazon. Now I am anxious to acquire her next two books so I can continue to share in her experiences in the Italian countryside. Wonderful!

A note about the photos

I just wanted to mention that the photos I put up on this blog are ones that strike a cord with me. That doesn't mean that they are necessarily the best examples of what the artists are capable of. This is not meant to be an art blog but simply a place for me to celebrate my interest in Europe and related works.

For additional works by the artist Mary Taitt please visit her blog, Imagik.

The Honeymoon is over

The honeymoon to Slovenia has pretty much ended. The newlyweds are en route back to the States.

I am anxious to hear all about their trip and to see many more pictures.

Stay tuned for more lovely photos and hopefully some travel narratives courtesy of the bride.
